Further to our yesterday's meeting at the OHCHR, please find below Ms Solveig Knudsen's answers to our questions.

Re: Meeting S.C. with OHCHR

Q: What references can be used (credibility)?
A: Try to use your primary resources (own reports) & make sure that you can back-up your reports with credible data.
N.B:
- UN data, Statistics, etc., can be used
- Please stay away from political NGOs (or affiliated)

Q: Can we attach Annexes to our Coalition/individual reports?
A: We can, however it won’t go into consideration during the review.

Q: What is the procedure to postpone the deadline for the Relevant Stakeholders submission (12 April 2010)?
A: We can’t postpone the deadline

Q: How is the OHCHR supporting the Lebanese government in the UPR process?
A: They did several training to the Focal Points in the ministries
N.B: - The internal deadline for focal points to present their report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is 30 April 2010
- The deadline for the Lebanese Government to present its report is at the end of August 2010

Q: Is the OHCHR motivating the Lebanese government to go through the “consultation process at the national level with all relevant stakeholders” (paragraph 15 (a)”?
A: Yes

Q: What are the OHCHR report priorities?
A: These priorities are Confidential



Q: How did the OHCHR set these priorities?
A: UN Country team’s decision and input

Technical Remarks:
-Please put One recommendation for each issue (please make it simple and easy)
-Please don’t use individual names in the listed cases (protection reasons)
-Please do balance in your report between the negative and the positive steps/issues taken by the Lebanese government.
-Report ( Font: Times New Roman / Font Size: 12 / Line Spacing: 1.5 / Paragraphs & Pages to be numbered )
